This delicious homemade vinaigrette is the perfect way to add a sweet citrus kick to your summer salads
If you’re anything like me, then you’re always on the lookout for those quick and easy foodie “hacks”. This deliciously tart vegan summer citrus salad dressing with orange and lemon juice is an excellent way to bring any salad alive! My favourite thing about this dressing is that, for what is essentially a simple balsamic vinaigrette with a few extra bits, it’s bursting with zingy summertime flavours. We’ve added a little bit of sweet maple syrup to round the edges, which helps to bring out the sweetness of the orange.
Make it a summer citrus salad
This dressing goes very well with both sweet veggies like beetroot, as well as bitter leaves such a rocket and chicory. In fact, we created this dressing initially for our Easy Orange, Beetroot & Chicory BBQ Side Salad. We loved it so much, we knew it had to be featured as its own recipe. Its influences are thoroughly Mediterranean, inspired by the ideas of alfresco dining, sun-soaked balconies, and crisp white wine.
I can’t wait for the proper summer sun to come back to us here in the UK; I’ll take any excuse for more BBQs, picnics, and summer salads!

Sweet Orange Vinaigrette
Ingredients
- 1/2 an orange juiced
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 of a lemon juiced
- 1 tsp maple syrup
Method
- Mix all the ingredients in a jar and drizzle over your favourite salad.
