Pixi Best Of Retinol Kit

by Freya

I love discovering a new beauty brand! Although I’d seen and heard lots about Pixi over the years, I’d never tried any of their products myself. A few months ago, I popped into my local Boots and saw they had a selection of Pixi’s skincare range. It was one of my first proper shopping trips out of the house during lockdown that wasn’t just to pick up groceries. I’d recently run out of toner and was feeling a bit boujee, so I thought I’d treat myself to the cult beauty product: Pixi Glow Tonic. I’d heard only good things about this product, so I had high expectations. After a few weeks of use, I’d already noticed a difference in my skin, so I decided to try out a few of their other products.

Retinol has been something I’ve wanted to try for a while, but I wanted to start with a product with low amounts of retinol in that I could slowly build up as my skin got used to it. For those of you that don’t know, retinol is an amazing anti-ageing ingredient that reduced wrinkles, lines, and age spots. It encourages your cells to renew and make their way to the surface of your skin, making your skin look younger, plumper and evening out blemishes. It can also help with acne too! Although I’m in my 20s and don’t exactly have loads of signs of ageing, dermatologists recommend you start to use retinol in your mid-late 20s and slowly build up the strength over time.

The Best of Retinol kit from Pixi was the perfect introduction for me. It contains 3 products, a cleanser, tonic and lotion. They come in little travel-sized bottles, so you don’t have to commit to the price of a full-sized bottle if you don’t like it. I’ve been using them for about a month, and I haven’t noticed a huge difference yet. However, as it’s such a low amount of retinol, it’s probably not going to do much for my skin at this point. It’s more about getting my skin used to the ingredient before I go in with the harder stuff down the line! As products, they’re lovely to use. The cleanser has jasmine in it so it smells divine when you rub it into your skin. It’s silky smooth and it’s just a lovely product to use. Both the cleanser and toner always leave my skin feeling clean and fresh, easily removing makeup and any dirt that’s built up over the day.

Pixi is cruelty-free and all of these products are vegan too.
